Charles E. Jewett letters, 1859-1864.

Primarily consists of Jewett's war-time (23) letters to his brother and sister. Also included: a letter from Sergeant Hugh R. Richardson reporting on Jewett's death; a letter from Charles Chesley of the 2nd Massachusetts Heavy Artillery (December 21, 1864); and an unrelated letter to John A. Jewett, dated October 13, 1859.

Charles E. Jewett, a twenty-three year-old resident of Gilford, New Hampshire, joined the 2nd N.H. Regiment on April 20, 1861. He re-enlisted for three years on May 22, 1861.
